Speaker #1:  David:  “Twin Causes of Childhood Obesity in America”
Manuel Project # 8:  “Get Comfortable with Visual Aids”

David spoke the two main behaviors that contribute to obesity in America.
·        The first main reason is eating too much.  In America we have much larger portions that they do in many other parts of the world.  Every day one out of three people eat at a fast food restaurant and restaurants in general serve larger portions of food.  “More is better.”
·        The second reason is exercising too little.  Children are not outside like they used to be.  They are instead inside on the internet or playing computer games.  They have an energy imbalance.

There has been a decrease in obesity, however, in the preschool children population in America.

Evaluation:    Sharon evaluated David’s speech.  She said that David gave a speech on a very important subject and it was clear that he was passionate about this subject.  David demonstrated a strong conviction for preventing obesity.  This topic was well researched.  Sharon suggested that David could utilize his visuals more by pointing to the specific detail presented.  She ended by saying he gave an excellent speech with good vocal variety, hand gestures, and well organized.  David gave his speech without using any notes.

The theme of the meeting was: “Humorous Stories”; The word of the day was: “Mirth”.  Ruth was the table topics master.

Samya asked for the guests remarks and then closed the meeting.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:30
